All the parents in our ministry have had those moments with their kids and teenagers. One minute everything is great and everyone is smiling, and the next minute everything is Over the Boiling Point! We encourage you to share this with the parents of students in your ministry. While emotional changes are happening and there are fluctuations in hormone levels, we cannot simply shrug off these moments. Anger can come from being hurt emotionally, relationally, and even physically.

Last week I got into contact with a British youth worker who was wondering how to approach the situation of a teen in her youth group being pregnant. What do you need do when a teen in our youth group is pregnant? Unfortunately, not all teen pregnancies are caused by voluntary sexual relations between teens. That means your knowledge of the pregnancy can have legal ramifications. Are you obliged to report it if the pregnancy turns out to be caused by rape, incest, or from sex with an adult? Know the law so you can do the right thing and be honest about this with the teen s involved. While confidentiality between youth workers and teens is crucial, a pregnancy is not something you should promise to keep a secret.
How has your faith in God helped you to mentor others? When I was a teenager I was heading [in] the wrong direction. I mean boys and parties and just trying to make myself happy with all these things. I saw their love for me. We got married.
Often in ministry circles, conferences, and resources, we throw around this phrase. It seems to sound important—like the right thing to say. We name it a core value of our ministry.
